If you have a referral under a Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP), please ask your GP, psychiatrist, or paediatrician to send it directly to our clinic at contact@wellbeingpsychology.org. Once we receive your referral, we’ll contact you to arrange a complimentary 15-minute intake call.
If you’re not using a referral, you’re welcome to get in touch via email to enquire about appointment availability or ask any questions.
Can I use telehealth instead of attending in person?
Yes. We offer telehealth appointments using a secure and confidential online platform. Please let us know in advance if you’d prefer a telehealth session, and we will email you a secure link prior to your appointment.
The intake call is an opportunity for you and the psychologist to briefly discuss your reasons for seeking support, what you'd like to get out of therapy, and any initial questions you may have. Your psychologist will ask some questions to better understand your needs and determine whether their expertise is the right fit for you.
This conversation also helps you get a sense of the psychologist’s approach and whether you feel comfortable moving forward with sessions.
Due to occupational health and safety regulations, all minors under the age of 18 years old must be accompanied in the wait room by an adult before and after their session.
How long are sessions?
Each session typically runs for 50 minutes.
This varies depending on your individual circumstances and goals. Some people benefit from a few sessions, while others attend over several months or longer. Your psychologist will work with you to create a treatment plan that’s tailored to your needs and regularly review progress with you.
Yes, we offer couples counselling. Please note that couples sessions are not eligible for Medicare rebates under a Mental Health Treatment Plan, as these plans only cover individual therapy.
Can I receive a Medicare rebate for my sessions?
Yes. If you have a current Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP, psychiatrist, or paediatrician, you may be eligible for a Medicare rebate. The plan must be dated on or before the date of your first session.
Payment is required on the day of your session. We’ll provide you with an invoice to submit directly to Medicare for your rebate.
How many Medicare-rebated sessions am I eligible for?
You can access up to 10 rebated sessions per calendar year under a Mental Health Treatment Plan. Your referring professional will initially refer you for 6 sessions. After that, your psychologist will send a progress report to your referring professional, who can then approve an additional 4 sessions.
Can I claim sessions through private health insurance?
Yes. We can provide an invoice after your session, which you can submit to your private health insurer. Coverage varies depending on your policy, so we recommend checking with your provider to confirm what psychological services are included.
Please send all referrals via email to contact@wellbeingpsychology.org. Be sure to include the Mental Health Treatment Plan if applicable, along with any relevant clinical information.
We accept payment via EFTPOS using Visa or MasterCard. Direct deposit is also available and must be made prior to your session. Please note we do not accept cash payments.
Do you have a cancellation policy?
Yes. We require at least 48 hours’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Cancellations made within 48 hours of your appointment will incur a $40 cancellation fee and cancellations made within 24 hours of your appointment will incur a $100 cancellation fee.
We appreciate your understanding, as this helps us offer appointments to other clients in need.
